A TikTok user has gone viral after documenting a heartwarming adoption story of a shelter kitten via a series of touching videos. The older feline, who was not “getting any interest from adopters,” did get a happy ending of her own later on.
The viral TikToker shared they went to a local humane society and noticed a kitten who wasn’t being asked about or interacted with. The clip noted, “She was sick with an upper respiratory infection which is common in crowded shelters. So her nose and eyes were crusty.” The TikToker then decided to get the kitten out and “love on her.”

What happened next was heart-touching as the kitten “immediately began to purr and snuggle.” The TikTok user shared, “She was so sweet and loved the attention. She kept nudging my face for more head scratches and continued purring.” However, the TikToker shared that their husband has “ALWAYS been adamant about never wanting a cat.”
Nonetheless, they took a picture of the kennel card and filmed the videos to keep the kitten in their memories. “I truly felt like I found my ‘soul cat’ and we were meant to find each other,” the TikToker added. Following the heartwarming experience, they couldn’t stop thinking about the sweet kitten. Soon after, the soon-to-be cat mom took their husband to meet the feline and her sister at the shelter.
Although the TikToker’s husband asked many questions, they weren’t convinced at first and contemplated the life-long “emotional and financial commitment.” The couple already have two dogs and are parents of three children. “We recently went from 2 incomes to one,” the TikToker added. However, the follow-up video showed the husband surprised their wife and agreed to adopt the kitten, who is now named Mira.
Given the couple’s financial situation, the TikToker revealed they were not in a position to bring Mira’s sister home. However, they noted they have been watching her closely on the shelter’s website and are hoping someone will adopt her nearby. Meanwhile, Mira is settling in with her new family as the cat mom continues to document her journey.
