Kitten Who Was the ‘Runt of the Litter’ Grows up Into a 22-Pound Cat

A video showcasing the dramatic transformation of a tiny kitten growing into a 22-pound cat has gone viral on TikTok. The post was all the more funny as the Good Samaritan had brought home the “runt of the litter.” However, as fate would have it, she ended up with a hefty cat, as the kitty kept growing until she was more than twice the weight of an average female feline.

On Aug. 11, TikTok user @lacebaseouterspace posted a cute yet funny video of her feline friend. When she brought home Ruby, the “runt of the litter,” she didn’t expect her to continue growing till she was twice the size and weight of an average feline. The little kitten who used to fit in the palm of her hand grew into a 22-pound cat, with the owner calling Ruby a “chonky girl.”

While the dramatic cat transformation video was already amusing, Ruby’s dead stare made it even more funny. As the creator tried to film the feline in her 22-pound glory, she looked into the camera with a frown. Many noted that the cat didn’t seem too happy that her human was “telling everyone her business.”

The kitten-to-cat transformation video garnered over 1 million views and 120,000 likes. Pet owners who have experienced the same with their furry friends stated it seemed to be “runt trauma,” as the kitties didn’t seem to control themselves around food. Others also noted a similar “ballooning” effect after their female felines were spayed.

However, it is important to ensure pets are at a healthy weight, with feline obesity being a common issue. Being overweight could lead to health problems such as a weakened immune system, arthritis, and cardiovascular disease. Putting them on a diet or having feeding strategies could help tackle this problem. One can also ensure they get plenty of exercise by having the furry companions chase after toys.
